Start with the room, not the fixture. A chandelier—or jhoomer—should work with the furniture, ceiling and everyday use of your space. A few measurements and photographs make the showroom conversation much more useful.
Bring the dimensions that matter
Note the room’s length and width, ceiling height, and the size and position of any table below the light. Photograph the ceiling, including beams, fans and existing electrical points. If you have a false ceiling, share that detail too.
Ask for the exact fixture’s width, height and adjustable hanging length. A product photograph cannot establish scale. Have your installer confirm suitable mounting and clearance before you order.
Compare it switched on and off
The finish, shape and visible fittings will be part of the room during the day, too. Bring a photograph of your furniture or a finish sample and compare them with the actual piece where it is on display.
Ask which bulbs or light source the model uses, whether they are included, and which light-colour options are available. If you want dimming, ask for confirmation of compatibility for the specific fixture and control.
Think beyond the centre of the room
A central chandelier does not have to do every job. Consider where you read, sit, walk and spend time. Wall lights or other lighting may be worth discussing alongside the main piece.
Before deciding, confirm the quoted price, current stock, what is included, delivery and installation arrangements, and the supplier’s warranty terms. Save the product code with your shortlist so the enquiry refers to the right model.
